Terms of use
These terms form the contract between your business and TonBusiness.ai, the business of Mathieu Germain based in Longueuil, Québec, which operates TandemPhone. By creating an account, you declare that you act for a business and not as a consumer, and you accept these terms and the Privacy policy. These terms are a translation: the French version prevails.
The service
TandemPhone gives your business a Canadian phone number shared by your team, to call, text and see a shared history in a web app. The person on duty gets calls and texts first. The service runs over the internet and through our telecommunications providers.
Your account
The account belongs to the business. Its owner invites members, can remove them and answers for their use. Each member signs in with their own mobile number and passkeys, and protects access to their devices. Tell us without delay about any unauthorized access.
Your number
The number is assigned to your business while the account is active. Like any phone number in Canada, it does not become your property, but you can move it to another provider. Write to [email protected] and we provide the information needed within 5 business days. The number of a closed account may be released about 60 days after the service ends.
Price and billing
The plan costs CAD 20 per month per account, plus taxes, charged automatically to a card through Stripe. It includes the number, 300 call minutes and 500 texts per month. Beyond that, each minute costs $0.03 and each text $0.02, plus taxes, added to the next invoice. A minute is time on the line during a call, inbound or outbound, rounded up to the next minute per call; a text is one message sent or received, counted per recipient. Calls to 911 are never counted. We give at least 30 days’ notice of any price increase.
Emergency calls (911)
You can call 911 with TandemPhone. The call goes to the emergency centre for the emergency address the owner registers for the line, and that address is sent to it. Because the service runs over the internet, a member calling from another place must state their location out loud, as the centre may only see the registered address. 911 does not work without internet or power, or during a device or service outage. Keep another way to reach emergency services. The owner keeps the address up to date, tells members about these limits and accepts them when activating the line. 933 is a test line that reads back the registered address, without reaching emergency services. Other three-digit numbers (211, 311, 411, 811 and the rest) are not offered.
Acceptable use
No spam, fraud, impersonation, harassment or unlawful use. You are responsible for the consent of the people you send commercial texts to, under Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), and you keep proof of it. People who reply STOP or ARRÊT no longer get your texts until they reply START. We may suspend an account that breaks these rules or our providers’ rules.
Voicemail
Voicemails left for your business are recorded and kept in your account. Calls are not recorded. You are responsible for your greeting and for what you tell the people who call you.
Your data
Your contacts, calls, messages and voicemails remain yours. For information about the people who contact your business, your business is responsible and we act on its behalf. How we handle information is described in the Privacy policy.
Liability
The service depends on telecommunications, power and internet providers, and it can be interrupted. To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the amounts paid for the service in the 12 months before the event, and we are not liable for indirect damages or lost profits. This limit does not apply to intentional or gross fault, or to bodily or moral injury.
Cancellation and end of service
You can cancel at any time in Settings → Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid, with no partial refund, and overage usage remains due. We may suspend an account that is unpaid or breaks these terms, with notice when possible. Export your data before the service ends.
Governing law and courts
These terms are governed by the laws of Québec and the federal laws of Canada that apply. Any dispute falls under the courts of the judicial district of Longueuil. The French version prevails. We may change these terms with at least 30 days’ notice in the app or by email.
